Welcome to 8th grade!

My name is Ms. Maine, and I will be your Social Studies teacher during the 2021-2022 school year. I just moved to Charlotte over the summer, and I’m excited that I get to spend my second year of teaching at GVSA! I graduated from Campbell University in May of 2020 with my Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education - Social Studies and ELA. I strive to make history come alive for my students and for them to gain an appreciation and love for learning. This year, we will be delving into U.S. history topics in a very collaborative, creative, and discussion-based manner. My hope is that you will walk away from my class with not only an understanding of the events that shaped our nation but also be able to make your own connections to the present. In my spare time, I enjoy creative DIY projects, binge watching TV shows, cheering on the Denver Broncos, visiting the NC mountains, and spending time with my two furbabies, Clark and Jack-Jack.
