To qualify for the CMS Teaching Residency program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Education: Hold a Bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 2.7 from 18 semester hours of content area coursework. If your GPA falls below 2.7, you may qualify through GPA forgiveness. This involves completing two approved courses (either online or in-person) with a GPA of 2.7 or higher in each. Both courses must be successfully completed before participating in pre-service training to be fully enrolled in the program.
Work Eligibility: Fulfill all legal requirements to work in the United States.
Licensure Requirements: Once enrolled in the CMS Teaching Residency program to be legible to for CMS license, you must have at least 24 hours of relevant coursework as determined by the licensure department or pass all state-required licensure exams for your subject area. Licensure Status: Applicants must not currently hold a continuing educator’s license or certificate in any state.
