IB Middle Years Program (IB MYP)

The IB Middle Years Program (MYP) serves students in grades 6 through 10, spanning from middle school (grades 6 through 8) into high school (grades 9 and 10).

All MYP courses follow the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and utilize CMS curriculum materials, enhanced with IB concepts and objectives.

Unique features of the MYP:

• Interdisciplinary connections between courses fostered by Global Contexts and Key Concepts

• Study of eight subject areas:  

  • Language & Literature (English)

  • Language Acquisition (world language)

  • Individuals & Societies (social studies)

  • Sciences

  • Mathematics

  • Visual & Performing Arts

  • Health & Physical Education

  • Design

• Service as Action activities required

• Course assessment via performance tasks, scored using IB rubrics
