HOW TO MAKE SHIMMERING WATER
To make a watercolor and salt background, watercolor paper or another heavier weight paper and regular watercolor paints.
Wet the paper with a sponge or large brush, then mix blue and green watercolors onto the wet paper (wet-on-wet technique).
Sprinkle regular table salt or Kosher salt over the damp paper. Salting the surface will give the “ocean” a sparkly quality.
Using  pieces of tin foil, colored permanent markers and texture boards. Make sure to use permanent markers as regular Crayola markers will smudge.
Put tin foil directly onto texture boards and COLOR fish or turtle with Sharpies and watch the texture of the netting show through.
After coloring the turtle and fish, carefully cut out fish and glue (white school glue) onto dry glittery or watercolor paper.Â

Use the line of your name (or anyone's name) to create a symmetrical design. Use the new shapes you see to form the head, thorax, and abdomen of an undiscovered insect.

I placed the baking dish with 1inch of water on a baking sheet with a paper towel to help with the mess.Â
The scraped chalk particles will float on top of the water. when your ready to print, gently place your paper on the surface of the water and do a VERY light little tap dance on the back of the paper. DO NOT SUBMERGE THE PAPER. Pinch a corner of the paper and lift the print. Lay flat to dry and repeat! (The print will smudge when wet but will not when it's dry.)
Begin scraping the desired colors of chalk into the direction of the water. Consider how the placement of the pigments will affect your print. You can use as many or as little colors as you like.Â
Here are some examples of our floating chalk prints. The prints would be great for collage paper, homemade cards and as is!Â
Using a water soluble marker or markers, sketch a bunny using the provided handout or an image of your choice.
Use a paintbrush and water to to trace over the marker lines. You can add different values as you blend the water and marker. Â
Using colored paper, draw and cut out flowers. If you made the floating chalk prints, you can use that paper!Â
Arrange and glue your flowers to the bunny paper. You can attach your bunny to a background. Â
