TASL – Tennessee Association of School Librarians

TASL encourages the professional growth and development of Tennessee school librarians; promotes cooperation among school librarians, school administrators, classroom teachers and other persons interested in school library media programs; and strengthens school library service in Tennessee.

  • Professional Development - A conference is held yearly during the fall semester in Middle Tennessee. A one-day professional development workshop is offered each summer in East and West Tennessee. Librarians wishing to receive in-service credit for attending should fill out __PRD-F005__ and submit it to their principal for approval prior to attending. Please note that librarians using professional leave to attend cannot receive in-service credit hours.

Tennessee Library Association

  • Professional Development - TLA holds an annual conference each spring.


ALA - American Association of Librarians

AASL - American Association of School Librarians

The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) is the only national professional membership organization focused on school librarians and the school library community. AASL has more than 7,000 members and serves school librarians in the United States, Canada, and around the world.
