Arrangements for transition day - Thursday 25th june 2026

Transition Day for all Year 6 pupils who have a place in school in September takes place on Thursday 25th June here at the Junior Learning Village.  Here's a reminder of the arrangements and information to help you get organised.

Organisation 

• All pupils should make their own way to JLV.  Pupils should not report to their primary school on this day.

• All pupils should wear their current school uniform.

• We ask that all pupils gather on the JLV yard.  This is located next to the main JLV building. Staff will be on hand to help guide pupils.

• Pupils will find out which Home group on transition day.  Pupils start with an assembly from where they will be taken to their Home Group.  

• Pupils will spend their morning with their Learning Guides getting to know the class and their Learning Guide (tutor).

• In the afternoon all Year 6 pupils will have a Maths and English taster session.  They will be in the Home groups for these sessions.

• Transition Day timings:

  1. 1. Start of the day:  Pupils can arrive on site from 8.15am.  Assembly will begin at 8.45am

     2. End of the Day:  Pupils will leave school at 3.05pm.  Please make sure that your child knows how they are travelling to and from school and any special arrangements for collecting them.

Social time and food

• Breaktime is from 11-11.20am.

• Lunchtime is from 11.50-12.25pm

• Hot and cold food is available at both break and lunch.

• There are several areas that pupils can eat packed lunch.

• If you would like your child to purchase a meal from the Knowledge Café you will need to top up their account before the day.  Details of how to do this will be sent via email.

Equipment

• Pupils should bring a pen and pencil with them on the day

• We recommend that pupils bring their own water bottle

• No PE kit is required on Transition Day

Medication

• Any medication can be handed in on the day (labelled in original packaging)

Absence

If you child is absent on the day please contact the JLV Office on 01670 712311 and leave a voicemail on the absence line stating clearly your child's name and that they are in Year 6 for the transition day.
