This piece gave me a chance to show off my drawing skills as well as the LEGO build it was based off of. The fact that this piece was modeled from a LEGO creation meant that drawing it would be a challenge, as there are numerous straight lines, difficult angles, and rounded circular portions. Although it was a challenge, I feel like I improved overall.
This drawing was modeled from one of my classmates and was a continuation of my practice in drawing the human body. This time I added normal clothes and a new pose to the piece so I could practice new skills. Unfortunately, I accidentally used the wrong colors in some areas, prompting me to double-check what colors are used in any future artwork.
These drawings were the start of my path towards returning my artwork back to my previous focus - people and clothes. I didn’t want to completely shift to realistic people however, so I opted to draw Pop figures of myself instead. These figures reflected both how I looked when I drew them, and how I planned to look one year afterwards, as a 12th grader.
This artwork was designed to build on many of the skills I gained during the course of the previous school year. I was able to show my newfound proficiency with several materials, such as Colored Pencils and Pigma Micron Pens. The development of my skills involving body proportions and small details was put on full display with this piece.
This artwork was intended to portray my personality and interests through several household objects I had easy access to. The choice of fruit and patches was made to add vibrancy to the piece and draw in the viewer’s attention. My choices in patches were made based on two factors: the color and shape of the patches, and which of my interests they represent.
This piece utilizes lines of motion to create the appearance of movement, an unfamiliar technique to me. The scars on the man’s body are meant to compliment the flames by showing the pain someone may be forced to endure in order to reach their goals. I sought to show the struggle of hard work which gives way to success, through perseverance and determination.
This piece is intended to portray the quiet, calming mood of the holiday season by showing a man and his cat sleeping while a snowstorm rages outside. I also wanted to use this piece as an opportunity to try out a new, far smaller scale with my artwork. Using a 005 Pigma Micron Pen, I was able to capture most of the details I wanted to include.
This piece is meant to be the spiritual successor to an artwork I had made prior to the 2019-2020 school year. Ron Mc is a parody character I had come up with who is a combination of Ronald McDonald and John Wick, and who is meant to satirize the Action Film genre. My skills in proportion, lighting, and small detail are all combined with this artwork.
This artwork was my first true attempt at drawing buildings and architectural design. I sought to practice my art skills in areas I'm not experienced in, and architecture seemed like the next logical step for me. Due to my personal interest in architecture as a possible career choice, I sought to design a building without any reference images or models, creating an entirely original design.
This artwork was a return to practicing clothing and human body proportions for me. After drawing Ron Mc I didn't make a serious attempt to draw people/clothing for a few months and I decided that it was time for a change. Despite my time out of practice I was still able to produce a detailed and accurate piece that lived up to my expectations from when I started.
