MISSION OF RED OAK ISD'S LEARNING COMMONS
Red Oak ISD is located in Red Oak, Texas 20 miles south of Dallas on I-35E. The library, also known as the Learning Commons, is strategically located as the central hub of the campus. The mission of the Learning Commons is to provide each learner access to print and digital resources. The campus collections balance an alignment with the curriculum through an assortment of current, culturally diverse, and globally minded resources, fostering a love for reading and encouraging critical thinking for all students.

ROMS LIBRARY VISION STATEMENT
The Red Oak Independent School District Learning Commons will:
Provide and maintain a current collection that is diverse in format and content and supports and enhances the curriculum as well as the pursuit of individual interests.
Coordinate with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure that a variety of resources are available for patrons to support learning.
Provide resources that foster a deeper appreciation of the religious, ethnic, and cultural diversity of the world.
Foster a learning environment that encourages curiosity and investigation.
Collaborate and co-teach with staff to enhance the district curriculum and support student achievement.
Provide a setting where students can develop the skills necessary to locate, analyze, evaluate, interpret, and communicate information and ideas in an effective manner.
DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
The ROMS Learning Commons offers a wide range of programs and services tailored to meet the unique needs and interests of our students.
Diverse Collection: The library boasts an extensive collection of age-appropriate books, graphic novels, and multimedia resources - from popular fiction to thought-provoking non-fiction, there is something for every reader.
Makerspace: The library is equipped with a dynamic Makerspace, encouraging students to unleash their creativity and innovation. From 3D printing and coding to crafting and STEAM activities, the Makerspace sparks curiosity and problem-solving skills. Makerspaces are open before school.
Research Support: The ROMS library media specialist will be available to assist students with their research needs.
Homework Help: The Learning Commons serves as a welcoming space for students to complete homework assignments, study, and collaborate on projects with their peers.
Digital Resources: Red Oak ISD offers access to a variety of digital resources, including e-books, audiobooks, online databases, and educational platforms that provide students with 24/7 learning opportunities.
