Sight words are so important in grade one. Most of the words found in our little books are these "high frequency words." When students have a good grasp on their sight words, they can focus their efforts on decoding that one word per page that differs from the repetitive text. This makes them become more confident readers as well as less frustrated by the daunting task of learning to read. Please pick one stack of coloured sight word decks at a time. Only move onto the next coloured deck when your child can read the words as well as sentences with ease without having to press the "speaker button."
Happy reading! :)
