November Newsletter
French Language Arts:
This month we will be learning about family names (maman, papa, frère, soeur, etc.) and relatives (mon cousin, ma cousine, ma tante, mon oncle, etc.). We will also be talking about peace and Remembrance Day this week. In writing we have started the process of writing a personal narrative; a first-person story that describes a true, personal experience. This activity helps students to develop writing and reflection skills.
Parent-Teacher interviews:
Parent-teacher interviews will be held during the week of November 17th. I will send home a "Pre-Conference Survey" with the paper copy of the newsletter. This survey is optional but it might give you the chance to jot down some of your questions before our meeting time so that I can focus my attention on the topics that you would like to discuss.
Math:
Students have shown that they are comfortable counting forward starting from 0. Things get trickier when they are asked to count backward or skip count from a number other than 0 (ie. start at 26 and count backwards to 17), so building confidence in this area is exactly what we will be working on this month. All of this practice is laying the foundation for the 2-digit addition and subtraction work we will start in a few weeks.
