Good Morning KI Families:
Here is the google meet link for our meeting today!
I can't wait to see my little KI friends :)
Madame Rosita
The department of Lifelong learning has provided parents with a few resources to get started as teachers prepare for Home learning today (Jan 4th) and tomorrow (Jan 5th). You will find the resources provided by the department below.

Home Learning Activities for January 4th and 5th, 2022 - Kindergarten (Immersion)
**Incorporate these activities as much as possible during playtime. Remember that children learn best through play.
Oral Communication
During distance learning, it is very important that your child has opportunities to hear and speak French.
If you have any family members who speak French, this can be an opportune time for your child to video call or call this family member/friend with your support.
Below are links to possibilities for viewing and listening to French songs, videos…
● Télé-Québec:
○ Serie : La petite école d’Hélène : https://video.telequebec.tv/details/34409-la-petite-ecole-dhelene
● Mini-TFO:
○ Songs-Madame Fruitée: https://www.tfo.org/fr/univers/madame-fruitee
● Radio Canada-jeunesse:
○ Comptines/Nursery rhymes: https://ici.radio-canada.ca/jeunesse/prescolaire/emissions/5613/comptines
Reading
- Read books aloud (in French if possible) and discuss the book. Before reading, make predictions and then talk about the story while and after reading. (1-2 books/day)
-If you are unable to read in French, have your child listen to books read online: (1 - 2 books/day)

● https://papapositive.fr/plus-de-100-histoires-a-ecouter-en-famille/ (scroll down this page to see the videos)
Writing
-Create a learning space for your child to draw or to write a few words: provide pencils, markers, crayons, paper etc. and leave these materials in the space. Encourage your child to draw a picture and talk to you about the drawing. Ask your child to add his/her name and if possible, label a few parts of the drawing. Learning letters
-During daily activities, ask your child to form certain letters (while playing with playdoh, salt, sand or with string).

Creativity and Physical Movement
-Play board games or card games.
-Make a puzzle or play with Lego.
-Encourage your child to play outdoors, to go for a family walk or to try some yoga positions.

I want to start by saying simply "try your best". The expectation from the department is that students are spending about 60 to 80 minutes a day learning at home (including gym and music). That being said, it is our first week back after many days at home. Not only that, but we are adding routines and expectations onto our children that they are not used to. It is important to take it as it comes and simply do what you can manage. I (along with all teachers) realize that you are also working at this time. The reality is many children may not even be home and are being cared for by grandparents and others at this time. Multiple siblings may also be sharing a computer. So just try to do your best. We are all in this together.
Fingers crossed we are safely back in the classroom soon.
Take care :)
