Youth Activism

Youth activists are children who take a small cause to the next level. They help to solve an issue by telling the world how important it is that the issue be solved. Youth activists can’t do anything by complaining because it can decrease the chance of their cause being solved. Youth activists show confidence, courage and interest while fighting for their cause.

Kids are just as capable as adults. Alex Linn is a youth activist that really showed us that this is true. Being only nine at the time, Alex decided to start an e-waste team with his friends. He decided to do this because of a story in the newspaper that talked about the problems with e-waste. It is easy for us to tell that Alex must have been confident that he could help by doing this because he produced 21,000 pounds of e-waste with his team.

Malala is a youth activist that showed a lot of courage fighting for women’s rights. She made a speech about the importance of women's rights, which ended in getting shot in the head by the talibans, who did not approve of her speech. Unlike most people, getting shot did not stop Malala. When the news reporters came she decided to use this opportunity to tell the world about women’s rights. Now she has changed the world for people everywhere because she was courageous, no matter what obstacles she met.

Being interested in a cause is very important while being a youth activist, Lauren Singer is a woman who produced a single jar of waste in four years and is still now living a waste free life. It is important for Lauren to be interested in her waste free living because otherwise she can’t be as attentive about what she uses that is waste.

All people are capable of being a youth activist but only some fight through all of the obstacles, and take it to a further level. Take Alex lin for example, he took his cause so far to make a law against e-waste. Malala turned a horrible experience of getting shot in the head into a chance to change the world. You could be just as successful as these activists, it’s just a matter of confidence, courage and interest while fighting for your cause.
