A large part of our math curriculum in Grade 1 surrounds number sense. We explore the following concepts:
Numbers to 100 (counting forwards and backwards).
Skip counting by 2 to 20.
Skip counting by 5 and 10 to 100.
Identifying what comes before and after any given number to 100.
Identifying one more/one less and two more/two less of a given number.
Identifying doubles to 20.
Addition and Subtraction (where the sum does not exceed 20).
Here is a video of what our math warm up looks like some days. Students can follow along at home just as they would in class!!
If you have access to a printer at home this website is AMAZING for free printable worksheets. The worksheets are all in English but numbers are numbers so the concepts remain the same.
GAMES.....
Here are some great games you can have your child play at home to practice concepts we are learning at school. These games are in English, however when we play them in class we play them with no sound on so that your child isn't listening to English while they play. I would encourage this at home as well!
