Students will be receiving grades regularly throughout the grading period at all levels. The grading policy was updated to reflect two categories in which student grades will be calculated. Remote learning during the Spring of 2020 had progress grades and was a straight average. The policy reflects categories with weights as in previous years. Teachers must report grades weekly for students and they must be entered in the Skyward gradebook. Parents can access student grades at any time, through the Skyward Parent Portal.
Students will have grades issued for daily work, projects, homework, group work, and other daily class activities. They will also have grades issued in the assessment category which includes quizzes, tests, short answer essays, overall project grades, and other exams. The following chart shows the percentages and the number of grades teachers must have for each student during the grading period:
The Skyward system and G Suite applications will allow us to monitor the student’s learning progress. Skyward allows the campus administration to run reports on student progress. As is already the practice, campus administration review progress reports after each grading period. Any students who are not completing work or showing progress are provided support through afterschool intervention, Saturday campus, or tutoring. The October and March Intersessions are also utilized to support students who have failed or are not on target with their coursework. Students in the I-LEARN@HOME program most likely will not be in attendance for tutoring or afterschool traditional programs, but extra monitoring will be provided to students and teachers will provide additional support. Tutoring and other interventions will be provided by teachers through the G Suite applications.
If the above mentioned supports have not assisted students with progressing academically, the campus administration will convene the RTI committee to review student information, teacher recommendation and assessment data. The RTI team will prescribe interventions that will be put in place for the students. All RTI targeted supports will be tracked through the E-SPED system to ensure monitoring is occurring. The campus will also assign teachers, counselors, and support staff to assist students who have targeted interventions.
