Teachers will use the G Suite Platform to contact students and ensure that assignments and activities are being sent to students. The District will provide all teachers with a Google Voice account so that they can interact with students at any point. The Google Voice account will have a dedicated number for each teacher so students can contact them directly. Teachers can use their personal cell or the internet to talk to students with their Google Voice account. All teacher numbers will be posted online so that students can access their teachers directly. Hours for teacher/student calls will be published online.
The teachers will be providing direction instruction as well as self-paced activities and monitoring of activities. Core subject teachers will provide direct instruction as well as self-paced projects/lessons. All teachers will ensure that they check on students daily. All teachers and instructional aides will be available during school hours for direct instruction and support for self-paced learning activities. Teachers will use their email, Google Voice accounts, and the G-Suite applications. Teachers will be monitoring students daily to ensure they are accessing their assignments; teachers will also be providing direct instruction to students at scheduled times. All teacher numbers and conference times will be posted on the campus websites so that everyone can have access to them. Parents and students may also use the District’s email to contact teachers when they have questions or need support.
The campuses will conduct PLC meetings weekly to review any students who are not progressing. The Principals and Assistant Principals will work with their departments/grade level teams, which are assigned to each administrator, via PLC structures. At the secondary level, the administration will work with Department Chairs to ensure student instruction is following the pacing guides from TRS and identify any students who have not been working. The administration and counselors will contact all parents of students in need of support at all levels.
All teachers need to inform their administration immediately if students do not have Internet. Clint ISD does have Wi-Fi hotspots that our students can use to access the I-LEARN@HOME program. Students who had a hotspot during 2019-2020 may still need the hotspot, and we will need to ensure that these hotspots are handed out to our students safely at school. Prior to school starting, all students will need to have the Internet and staff may need to contact them to identify students who need a hotspot.
Since students will be at home and teachers in the classroom, PLC meetings will be necessary to review student progress. PLC’s will meet weekly with no exceptions. The Campus administration will use the pacing guides to meet with their PLC’s weekly and ensure that staff is on pace with the curriculum and to provide support for technology if needed. Teachers must take attendance and monitor students daily.
All teachers, support staff and administration need to make sure our families and community are communicated in a timely manner. Please note: Facilities and maintenance staff will continue to be on campus as needed and will work to clean and sanitize the buildings daily. All campus events, field trips, student trips, employee travel and UIL are also canceled until further notice to ensure safety of all students and staff.
Just because we will be in an At Home learning mode, doesn’t mean that we will lose our focus on student success. Our core values, are more important than ever. We need to committed to our students even more than before; we need to keep the learner-centered connection even if it is remotely; we are definitely going to be innovative in the upcoming weeks; we must nurture our students in ways we never have before; and finally we need to communicate in this unique time an keep our open, transparent philosophy!
