COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Aviation History, Post WWII. This is an aviation history course focusing on the development of flight throughout the centuries. It starts with ancient civilizations and flight, then progresses through time to future developments in aerospace, with an introduction into cyber technologies. Throughout the course 21st century learning is adopted with readings, video clips, hands-on learner centered activities, and chapter project-based learning opportunities.
Course Objectives: After completing Aviation History, Pre WWII, the student will:
Describe historical facts and impacts of the early attempts of heavier-than-air flight.
Analyze the impact World War I aviation had on commercial aviation.
Examine the role aerial bombing had on the outcome of World War II.
GRADING PROCEDURES:
Weekly Physical Training and Uniform Inspections: Weighted for final grade (see below)
Make up Exams: Required within three days (maximum) after an absence.
Make up Inspection: Uniform must be worn the day the cadet returns to school from an absence. There are no other uniform inspection make-ups. Please see the cadet handbook for uniform inspection make-up policy.
An unexcused absence on a scheduled Physical Training day will result in a grade of zero.
Absences (excused/unexcused): See the Burns High School policy regarding absences.
Special Projects will be assigned at the discretion of Col Johnson, SASI and MSgt Norris, ASI.
