We operate two major housing programs, Public Housing and Section 8 (Housing Choice Voucher). Public Housing units are owned by SLHA and rented to qualified applicants. Section 8 provides rental assistance to qualified applicants to facilitate rental of privately owned units. In both programs, participants pay 30% of their income for rent.

Karen House, founded in 1977, is a Catholic Worker house of hospitality for homeless women and children in north St. Louis. We offer short-term shelter for 13 homeless women and their children.

Today Loaves and Fishes has matured into a thriving food pantry and homeless shelter. Our food pantry serves 13,000 people and our emergency shelter 400 individuals (over 53% of those are children). St. Patrick Center is a Housing First model and the lead agency for Coordinated Entry, a multi-agency effort under Housing First. Intake specialists conduct discovery sessions with clients, which allow them to help people secure housing and provide the correct level of support services before, during and after they are housed.People who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless may come for a private discovery session with an intake specialist at the St. Patrick Center Welcome Center at 800 North Tucker Blvd in downtown St. Louis, Monday-Friday from 8am-4:30 pm. No appointment is necessary.
