Students are required by the GA Department of Education to take a GMAS EOC Exam in four areas in order to earn a high school diploma. Additionally, they must pass the class with the GMAS grade calculated in at 10% of the final grade. The four classes that culminate with a GMAS EOC are Algebra C&C, Biology, United States History and American Literature. Students who satisfy their US History requirement via Advanced Placement (AP) or Dual Enrollment (DE) are exempt from taking the US History GMAS. Students who satisfy their American Literature requirement via AP or DE are still required to take the American Literature GMAS.
Advanced Placement (AP) exams are administered worldwide in May. High school students across the country and around the world take AP courses and exams to challenge themselves, explore their interests, and earn college credit and placement.
For more information on courses, scoring and credits, and course materials, sign in to your AP Student account. For information about which AP courses are available at Lovejoy High School, contact your counselor. For information on AP course expectations at Lovejoy High School, contact the AP Coordinator, Ms. Wilson-Hunt.
The PSAT is given to 9th, 10th- and 11th-graders is an assessment designed to help prepare students for the SAT, college, and careers. Historically, students who take the PSAT/NMSQT score higher on the SAT than students who do not take the test.
Students who take the PSAT/NMSQT in 11th grade (selected by the district) may enter the National Merit® Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships.
PSAT/NMSQT is offered free during school. This year, we will test October 23, 2024. More updates are forthcoming.
The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is a college entrance exam used for college admissions, some scholarships and the STAR Student award program. The new SAT is more focused on the skills and knowledge at the heart of education. It measures what you learn in high school and what you need to succeed in college.
The test is normally administered on Saturdays per the schedule on the site below. Lovejoy will offer an opportunity during school this year on March 19, 2025. (This opportunity is paid for by CCPS, so no fee waiver benefits accompany this test.)

Registration fee waivers are available from Ms. Stewart for both the SAT and ACT. When you receive the waiver code for the SAT, the one code will be used for up to two test administrations. Once you take the SAT using the fee waiver, you will also receive 4 college application fee waivers in your College Board account. When you receive the ACT fee waiver, you'll use it to register for the exam. When you need to take it a second time, you can request a second waiver. Each student only receives up to 2 tests fees waived. You will need to pay for the exam beyond those. Additionally, fee waivers are available to seniors both semesters and to juniors second semester only.
College application fee waivers can be obtained in a few different ways:
CollegeBoard.org - See above.
CommonApp - You can apply to hundreds of colleges using one application. When completing your profile, select Yes for the fee waiver question and make sure that (when prompted) you list your counselor's email address accurately. Then they will confirm your need for a fee waiver.
Common Black App - You can apply to 60 HBCUs with one application. The fee waiver code is in the senior Google Classroom. When you create your account and complete your application, you'll simply enter the fee waiver code on the payment screen.
NACAC - This fee waiver is uploaded into the Canvas classroom Modules. You can use it for any college that accepts it. While we do not have a master list, you can reach out to the colleges directly to find out if they accept it.
You can also request that your application fee be waived directly from the college by simply asking - the worst-case scenario is them saying no. Of course, check the above sites to see if they are members of these first.
