Prior to participating in Dual Enrollment (DE), as part of the application process, the student and student’s parent/guardian must complete the Student Participation Agreement (SPA).
A student must have completed the admission process and been accepted and approved by the participating postsecondary institution.
11th & 12th grade students may take any approved DE courses listed on the Course Directory, at an eligible participating postsecondary institution (USG, TCSG or private).
10th grade students may enroll in approved CTAE courses only, unless they have a minimum SAT score of 1200 or minimum ACT composite score of 26 in a single national test administration
The DE Funding Cap is 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours).
Students who received DE funding for 19 semester (or 29 quarter) or more hours, through Spring term 2020, are extended for an additional 12 semester hours (or 18 quarter hours) of funding.
Dual Enrollment funding per term is a maximum of 15 semester or 12 quarter hours, and a maximum of three semesters or four quarters per award year
Upon reaching the 30 semester or 45 quarter hours program Funding Cap, a student may qualify for HOPE Grant Bridge and HOPE Career Grant funding or may choose to self-pay.
Conference with YOUR high school counselor to determine if DE is a good fit for you (and your family). Plan out which courses you should take and discuss how they should fit into your LHS schedule (if part-time). Click here for a self-assessment to determine your readiness for college classes (bring it to your counselor meeting).
Apply for admission to the postsecondary institution (college) as a dual enrollment high school student. Note that individual colleges have different deadlines and admission requirements, including GPA & SAT/ACT scores. See this document for USG DE Requirements. All schools require an official transcript, which you can request to be sent through GAFutures.org
Join the Dual Enrollment Remind Group (below).
Complete the DE Funding Application.
Once you have completed your portion of the application, your parent/guardian must electronically complete the Parent Participation Agreement section of your application.
Provide your parent/guardian’s email address.
Parent/guardian may contact the school counselor if they have trouble accessing or completing the Parent Agreement.
Complete and turn in the LHS Dual Enrollment Agreement form to your counselor. This is mandatory - classes will not be submitted for payment without it on file.
You must be accepted by the college, and the high school counselor must approve your DE courses and funding application. Make an appointment with your counselor once you've reached this step and received an acceptance letter from the college. She may need to submit your desired classes on your behalf or complete an advisement form for you to submit to the DE advisor at the college. The college class times must not conflict with the Lovejoy class times.
DE advisement with the Lovejoy counselor consists of a one-on-one conference, academic planning, and submission of the intended college courses to the DE college advisor. DE advisement must take place by the listed LHS deadlines. Failure to complete advisement by the deadline will result in not being approved for DE that semester (in Infinite Campus, nor in GA Futures). Spring ’26 – December 1st; Summer & Fall 26’ – May 1st
Provide your counselor with a copy of your college schedule to have it added your LHS schedule.
The eligible participating college must approve your DE courses and funding application.
If all steps have been successfully completed, you should see each of the college courses you are taking on your LHS schedule in Infinite Campus. Courses may appear all in 4th period. However, you should still be in your Lovejoy class if it is also listed there.
