The Law and Public Safety (LPS) Program at Charles R. Drew High School incorporates current law enforcement technology and instructional resources to provide students with an authentic, hands-on learning environment. Through the use of industry-aligned tools and training materials, students engage in learning experiences that reflect real-world law enforcement and public safety practices.
The Law and Public Safety (LPS) program at Charles R. Drew High School follows Clayton County Public Schools’ facilities and equipment policies to ensure all instructional materials and equipment are securely stored, properly maintained, and easily accessible for instructional use. Classrooms and training areas are clean, organized, and well-maintained, supporting a safe and professional learning environment.
Instructional spaces are structured to support lecture, collaboration, and hands-on, scenario-based learning, while instructors are provided with adequate workspace and shared access to resources. These practices ensure the program meets state and district standards and supports effective, student-centered instruction.
Charles R. Drew High School labs maintain a safe, secure, and professional learning environment in compliance with Clayton County Public Schools, GA DOE, and OSHA standards. Students and staff are trained in proper lab procedures, equipment use, and chemical handling. Safety expectations and emergency protocols are reviewed regularly and supported through routine drills. All incidents are documented in accordance with district policy. Chemicals and equipment are properly labeled, stored, and routinely inspected to ensure a compliant and hazard-free instructional setting.

Instructional and Multimedia Technology
Teachers and students have access to a variety of classroom technologies that support interactive instruction, including Smart Boards and interactive projectors, LCD projectors and presentation displays, student-issued laptops and digital learning tools, classroom audio systems and speakers, digital and video cameras for instructional use, and emerging instructional technologies. This technology enhances student engagement and supports dynamic, hands-on lessons while helping students become familiar with the tools and technologies commonly used in law enforcement and public safety careers.

Drew High School ensures the Law and Public Safety (LPS) program is fully supported with the consumable materials and instructional supplies necessary to provide consistent, hands-on, and industry-aligned learning experiences. With funding and oversight from Clayton County Public Schools, materials are maintained and replenished throughout the school year to support uninterrupted instruction.
The program maintains an adequate inventory of essential training tools, classroom resources, safety equipment, and lab materials required for daily instruction and student skill development. Consumable items are replaced in a timely manner to ensure continued alignment with CCPS curriculum standards and industry expectations.
