High School Teacher Turns "Citizen Scientist"
Mrs. Dotts, high school ELA teacher spent a week this summer on the remote Isle Royale, an island in Lake Superior. Her goal was to take part in the decades old scientific study of the moose and wolves on the island. This is one of the longest- running predator- prey research projects in the world. Upon her return she wrote a fascinating article about her experience that she will use in her classroom this year.

Better Together Anti-Bullying Night
It was an evening of learning, sharing, and building connections as we work to create a safe and supportive school community. Our PUP leaders from the high school gave a presentation about how they promote kindness, inclusivity, and respect. Thank you to Clint and Missy Haney and the Grant Kindness Foundation for their presentation. Together, we truly are "Better Together!"

NEW Interactive Video Board
Claymont City Schools is proud to announce the establishment of its new Athletic Wall of Fame, celebrating the outstanding achievements and contributions of its most esteemed athletes,
teams, coaches, and contributors.
The Athletic Wall of Fame will serve as a permanent tribute to those individuals who have made a significant impact on the school’s/organization’s athletic programs. Inductees will be selected based on their exceptional athletic accomplishments,
sportsmanship, leadership, and dedication to the Claymont High School athletic program.
The inaugural class of inductees will be introduced on January 9, 2026 during a special ceremony at Claymont High School, between the junior varsity and varsity boys basketball games.
Everyone is encouraged to attend and celebrate the achievements of these remarkable individuals.
To nominate an esteemed athlete, team, coach, and/or contributor, please complete this form.
These “Wall of Fame” members will have their information on the digital display board that will be located in the lobby of Claymont High School gymnasium. In addition, this digital board will include the photos of all of the “All Ohioans,”
Claymont High School academic information as well as Alumni Award winners from the Claymont Foundation.
Are you interested in getting your high school yearbook immortalized in a digital format? Would you love to look at the past 60 years of yearbooks of Claymont High School? As part of the new Interactive Video Board we are working towards scanning all of the previous yearbooks so anyone visiting the high school will be able to walk down memory lane! If you are interested in sponsoring your graduating class yearbook, a donation of $75.00 would
be appreciated. Please contact High School Principal Kelsi Barnhart at kbarnhart@claymontschools.org
for additional information regarding sponsoring a yearbook. We look forward to having all of these scanned for future generations!

Back to School Forms
Click on the red checkmark to follow the link in order to fill out all the required online forms for Back to School. These must be updated yearly. Once the parent complete the forms, students will receive an email. Each student will then need to verify they have read the student handbook. If you have questions, please call the high school office.
If you are picking up or dropping off your student at school, please abide by the following:
Use the parking lot on the west end of the building, near the gym entrance. Please do NOT drop off in front of the building, that is reserved for buses.
Park in a spot to wait for your child and don't sit in the fire lanes at the side entrance. This is against fire codes.
Bus riders will be released 3 minutes earlier than the drivers and pick up students. This allows the buses to get through McCauley Drive and get to the other buildings. Buses should always have the right of way when leaving the parking lots.
Support a great cause and wear pink to the football game on Oct. 3rd. Link to the shop to order.
MUSTANG MANIAC WINNER
Claymont High School Science Club
The Claymont High School Science Club started off the year tending to Moon Tree 634. We removed a significant amount of plants that most people would refer to as weeds that had grown in the enclosure over the last year. This was used as an opportunity to talk about different types of plants and teach the students the saying that "grasses are flat, sedges have (triangular) edges, and rushes are round", which is a common way to remember the key differences.
We also found some interesting fungi as well as a spider with an egg sac attached to its abdomen which was safely relocated. Our Moon Tree Stewards have done an excellent job cleaning up the area to ensure it grows to be a mighty sycamore.
