Updates for September 28
Though it was a bit dreary, our students completed the Terry Fox Run on Friday. We're so proud of our students for enthusiatically finishing their laps. There is still time to donate for the event. We are currently trailing our other Classical Academy schools from Calgary. Please help us reach our goal of raising $3,500.
Now that we are well into the school year, we expect students to take personal responsibility for important issues, as their age allows. Please see below for a reminder about being timely for bus departures. We want busses to leave by 3:25 PM!
As well, the Lost & Found will be emptied this week. Watch for an update to the Lost & Found page to see what items are currently in this space. Items that have labels get returned to their owners; please help to label your child(ren)'s clothes!
Students continue to hear about Carefulness as a companion virtue to Wisdom (Prudence). These items of personal responsibility require Carefulness to be accomplished. Help coach your child through these goals.
Standard Uniforms are to be work as of October 1. Please read this primer to refresh your understanding of these changes.
Bus Etiquette
🕒 All buses are expected to leave school property at 3:25 PM. Because students are dismissed at 3:13 PM, they must head directly to the buses. As previously shared, bus drivers do not take attendance for older students. Students are expected to be in their seats by 3:24 PM to ensure an on-time departure.
🚍 Please remind your child of their responsibility to go straight to the bus. Last week was the final week for adult supervisors to guide students to their buses. Now that we are entering the fifth week of school, we encourage all students to be responsible and mindful of the time. Students in grades 5 or above who do not arrive at the bus by 3:25 PM will be left off of the bus and parents will be responsible to pick them up.
Reminders
🚸 Be mindful of your speed both through the School Zone and the parking lot. The safety of our students is a top priority!
🕜 Please contact the office if you are picking up your child instead of having them ride the bus. Please inform the office by 1:30 PM on the day of the change in order for us to make proper arragements for bus departures.
🚙 Help us to be good neighbours by using curb parking along 78 Avenue to drop off and pick up your child. Nearby businesses have parking lots which are private. Thank you for honouring their spaces.
👔 Please mark or label your child's clothing. We are actively looking for stray garments and items to have names so that we can reunite these with students. Council has a partnership with Mabel's Labels if you want a simple solution to identifying garments.
🆕 Our upper grades (5 - 10) moved to a new 8-block 2-day schedule. This has caused some unintended issues. It is possible that some changes might still take place early this week while habits are still fresh. Thank you for your understanding.

👥School Council Monthly Meeting - October 15, 6:00 PM
This is the date of the Annual General Meeting and the position of Secretary is being voted on. There are other opportunities to get involved with Council so drop in to hear how it is that you can help.
Please come by the school to share your views, meet Council leadership, and hear about upcoming events where you can volunteer your time.
