Updates for September 7
As staff welcomed back students this week, we aimed to shape expectations in the classroom and the building. New this year is guidance about voice volumes. We want classrooms to be places of respectful learning and hallways to be free of yelling. Your support of this initiative is greatly appreciated. Voice volumes should be appropriate for the student's context, so classroom, hallway, and recess volumes are expected to differ. Please familiarize yourself with the Student and Parent Code of Conduct in order to understand these and other school expectations.
Students are attending assemblies this week on Tuesday, which coincides with formal day. Grades K - 4 meet at 8:30 AM and grades 5 - 9 meet at 9:50 AM.
Reminders
🚸 Be mindful of your speed both through the School Zone and the parking lot. The safety of our students is a top priority!
🚙 Help us to be good neighbours by using curb parking along 78 Avenue to drop off and pick up your child. Nearby businesses have parking lots which are private. Thank you for honouring their spaces.
👔 Please mark or label your child's clothing. We are actively looking for stray garments and items to have names so that we can reunite these with students. Council has a partnership with Mabel's Labels if you want a simple solution to identifying garments.
🆕 Our upper grades (5 - 10) moved to a new 8-block 2-day schedule. This has caused some unintended issues. It is possible that some changes might still take place early this week while habits are still fresh. Thank you for your understanding.
