Hello! Here are a few notes about our classroom:
🎂 Birthdays
If your child wishes to bring a treat for his/her birthday, please send me an email before doing so. Treats will be shared during lunch time. I ask that families avoid treats that have peanuts in them. I also ask that families bring in a card or send me a list of ingredients for homemade treats (or list of flavours for store-bought treats).
Extended Absence
Before going on extended leave (1 week or more), please reach out to Mrs. Cunningham and myself as prolonged absences require a form to be filled out.
Reading Buddies
We have the pleasure of partnering up with the Grade 1 students in Mrs. Meinders classroom this year for Reading Buddies. Students from Grade 4 partner up with a student in Grade 1 to read and learn together once a week. This program helps to support student learning and community building.
Classroom Jobs
Every week, students are assigned a classroom job to exercise responsibility and foster community in the classroom. Please take the time to discuss with your child the importance of being part of the community and completing his/her classroom job, or perhaps ways they can contribute to the class.
Assigned Seating
Students receive new seats every month so they a change to work with different people. I try to ensure that students who need to sit closer to the front (for better vision) consistently sit close to the front. If you feel that your child cannot see the board from where they sit, please reach out to me or encourage your child to speak to me during the school day.
