Summer camp is a four day overnight dance intensive that pushes the new team to their limits! The camp is lead by incredibly talented instructors with high school and collegiate dance backgrounds from all over the country. Our team is paired up with one instructor and a buddy team to navigate through classes, competition, and new friendships.
Our team competed with our home routine as well as the Elite Team routine. In addition, each Shirette attends different classes that vary in style from pom, kick, hip hop and more. Each team learns team bonding activities, leadership skills, and how to show their school spirit.
Additional awards received: Spirit Stick (we decorated it!), Herkie Teamwork Award, and a bid to Nationals.
Our home routine was choreographed by our senior members—Ava, Kathleen, Liem, Anna, and Kennah. This dance is the first official performance for the new team and is a great kickoff to the year!
We received a Superior rating from the judges!
The Elite Team routine is taught by NDA staff and is the most difficult team routine offered. It included various elements such as a la secondés, kicklines, syncopation, and more. This routine gives the team more experience learning choreography in a short time period, polishing, and performing in a quick turnaround.
We received a Silver rating from the judges!

Recipients: Charlotte Olenick—Kicks and Kathleen Drummond—Jumps
This award is first given to a dancer that has qualities that has made them stand out to an NDA instructor. The unique moment of pinning it forward is that the staff can personally award at any time throughout the camp and for any reason.
Then, that dancer has an opportunity to 'Pin It Forward' to another dancer at camp. Our to recipients experienced both parts of this process.
Recipients: Kathleen Drummond—received the second pin from a dancer on Cozad Dance Team and Ava Keim—passed her second pin to a dancer on Logan View Dance team.
