The Concert Choir is the main facet of the choral department. The choir will perform multiple public concerts throughout the year, as well as perform at district music contest.
This mixed (treble and bass) choir ensemble class is designed for the advanced singer with
an ability to achieve a high performance level. Challenging four to eight-part concert choir
literature of various genres and historical music periods is studied, rehearsed and
performed in concerts and contests. Healthy individual vocal techniques and large group
choral techniques are emphasized and cultivated. It is also the course’s goal to create an
atmosphere of thoughtful reflection and critical thinking and to foster a community in
which students respect the music, the ensemble, and each other. Performances outside of
the school day are part of class expectations.
