Daily Expectations
Dance team members represent Lincoln Standing Bear High School at all times. Dancers should be leaders within the school and always set a good example to others, including on social media. If negative circumstances arise, dancers may be removed from performances until positive expectations are continuously met.
Drinking or illegal drug use in uniform and/or on school grounds will result in automatic dismissal from the team.
Legends must be on time and dressed appropriately at all scheduled practices and performances. Work schedules and optional appointments/commitments should not be scheduled during practice time or performances.
If a Legend will be tardy or needs to miss part or the entire practice, written communication with the coach is required by email/text at least 12 hours before practice. Performances require more than 24 hours' written notice, regardless of whether it's a school or non-school commitment.
Legends should meet with their teachers during the school day, before school after morning practice, or right after school. If a dancer needs to meet with a teacher during practice time, they should communicate with the coach before practice and bring a signed note from the teacher.
Dancers should be able to dance full out for two practices before a performance for safety.
Dancers must be at school to practice or perform. If a dancer is marked sick from school, they are ineligible to practice or perform. Absences and tardies will be recorded. If a pattern arises, the dancer will meet with the coach to determine next steps. The ONLY exception is if you are involved in another LSB activity and/or have developed a collaborative plan with the coaches.
Academics is our #1 priority. A dancer with a grade of failing (F), unsatisfactory (U), incomplete (I) or a combination of the three at any grade check will have seven calendar days to get their grade to passing or meet the expectations of progress set by the individual teacher. If the deadline is not met, they will be suspended from all dance performances until a plan has been set up with the coach and the teacher of the grade(s) affected, as this is school policy.
