Mike Robb, director of Irving choirs, teaches vocal music at Irving Middle School in Lincoln, NE. Mike received his Bachelor of Music degree at Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1997, where he studied voice with Dr. Richard Grace. He was also a member of the Nebraska Wesleyan University Choir and Chamber Singers under the direction of Dr. William A. Wyman. He received his Masters of Science in Education degree in 2004 from Peru State University. Mike taught at Birchcrest Elementary in Bellevue, NE for three years and has been at Irving for the past 24 years. Wanting to create more choral opportunities for Irving students, Mike created what is now known as the Irving Morning and After School Choir Program. More than 350 Irving students participate in one or more of the six choirs available for students. He also directs two Lincoln Public School summer school choral camps for middle school and fifth grade students.
Mike was honored in 2006 with the Alltel Outstanding Teacher Award and in 2010 he was one of six teachers in Lincoln to receive the Thank You Teacher Award during a breakfast at the governor’s mansion. In 2012 he received the Nebraska Wesleyan University Outstanding Music Alumni Award and in 2013 he was awarded the F.J. Clark Award for Excellence in Middle School Teaching. In 2015 Mike received the Marian Battey Anderson/Charles Wheaton Battey Outstanding Teacher Award. He also received the Inspire Teacher Award from the Foundation from Lincoln Public Schools that same year. Mike received the LPS Foundation Musi Educator Award in 2023 and in 2024 Mike was awarded the Scottish Rite LPS Teacher of the Year award. Mike serves in several leadership positions at Irving and within Lincoln Public Schools. He is the music department chair and part chair of the technology committee at Irving. He has also served as the chair of the LPS eighth grade All City Festival. Mike is a native of Lincoln, NE, and is married to Katie. They have two children, Hannah and Noah. Mike enjoys singing weekly in his church choir and worship team.

Julie Schumacher is the Irving accompanist and will begin her 2nd year in 2025. Julie is a former English and German teacher and has been in the classroom for over 30 years. We are blessed to have such an incredibly talented and hard working accompanist.
