This piece really was something that just came to my head one day. I decided to create a future where a monster taller than a lot of skyscrapers would roam the city of Atlanta. My inspiration for this piece was from the popular anime/manga Naruto, where a character named Gaara has the power of a beast that can control sand. I based it on the anime, but it has many differences in appearance. I did an original creature based on the character's monster, and I am very proud of the work I did. I hope other people enjoy this as much as I did and I encourage others to think about doing art.
Wire sculpture and collage
This work is part of a larger body of work exploring how minds can work in different ways, and how people think differently. This piece focuses on the idea of creativity.
Watercolor on Paper
This project originally started out as an assignment for my art class, creating a movie poster for a fictional movie using the skills we had learned. It ended up becoming a culmination of a series of pieces I had made before out of the prompt of "Space Selfie". I quickly created a story about an Earthling who became an exchange student to an interstellar school of students from all around the universe. She documents her journey with selfies she posts online for her friends back home, as she navigates the ins and outs of high school in space. Space Selfie ended up being my favorite project from this year. I honestly don't think I could have created it without my great art class, and all I learned about colour, composition, and linework.
Pen and Pencil on Paper
When working on this artwork I had one thought on my mind, the future. Over the years I have become increasingly fond of things like super cars, nice houses, and expensive technology. I always think to myself saying I hope I have this or I hope I have that in my future, but if I want any of these things first I have to complete one very important step. This step is trying my best in school and completing college. I wish to do well in school so I can go to a great college and pursue Architecture. I know that hard work pays off and I’ll gladly take it if it means I’ll get closer to fulfilling my future.”
Plaster
This work was exploring the idea of changing identities and how something like a face can evolve.
Digital Photography
I chose to recreate a Wassily Kandinsky work because of all the bright colors, and I am really proud of the idea I came up with using the plates. I like that some of the colors match up but not all of them, and I created this by pulling out every single piece of R. Wood in my house. My recreation reminds me of something that would hang in a fancy restaurant by the bathrooms. It was really fun to create this, and I would like to do more of it.
Polymer clay
I was inspired to sculpt the different flowers into pendants because they were symbolic for my family and I. My theme was flowers, and each flower was one chosen by all of my sisters. I created these as pendants to make it something we could all share or have because we don’t all live near each other.
