Using Bible apps
Digging Deeper Daily
The Digging Deeper Daily YouVersion reading plan is an excellent way to READ the 3D reading plan.
All 365 days are in one plan.
If you want to listen while reading this plan, see LISTEN > to Podcasts. Note that the devotional pages for this plan have a link to ‘podcast choices’, but on many devices, that won't be the best way to read and listen at the same time.
Confusion: The YouVersion Bible app now has an audio play button for the Digging Deeper Daily reading plan. Hitting the audio play button does NOT play the Daily Bible Reading Podcasts.
When you hit the audio button for the devotional material in the Digging Deeper Daily YouVersion reading plan, you will get a Siri/Alexa-like voice that will read to you. This is actually a pretty good way to use this plan, but you might prefer the Read To Me Daily plan above, which was designed for using the audio button and has special recordings made by Phil and our friend Ashlee.
Three methods for listening:
If you use a podcast app or the dailybiblereading.info site for listening, you can still read along with the YouVersion app using the Digging Deeper Daily reading plan. Your podcasts will end with a prayer. I highly recommend this method for listening.
If you use the audio button in the Read To Me Daily YouVersion reading plan, all the devotional material is read first by Phil or Ashlee, including a prayer. There are some little extras in the podcasts that you will not hear.
If you use the audio button in the Digging Deeper Daily reading plan, you get the same thing as the Read To Me Daily reading plan, but a Siri/Alexa-like voice will read the devotional page, and there will be no ending prayer.
If you want different features that are not found in the YouVersion app— such as if you want to view the Biblical source language texts, consider following the 3D plan using MyBible, which is available for both Android or Apple devices. MyBible also has a wonderful selection of Bible translations, including some for download that you cannot download for offline reading in the YouVersion app. I enjoy being able to see three translations on the screen at once on my tablet. It is taking me a little time to learn how to make full use of this powerful app.
MyBible only has one of the meaning-based translations I recommend for reading the Bible in a year: God's Word (GW'20).
