4th Quarter

Touch Typing and Presentations

Second Grade Technology Lessons focus on typing skills development and word processing (Q1), spreadsheets and coding (Q2), research (Q3), and presentations (Q4).

In the 4th quarter, students advance their typing skills and develop introductory presentation skills. Students create several slide show presentations. Students will use their research skills to find images and information. Students will combine their images and information to create slide show presentations. Students will also learn to create simple animations using a stick figure animation program.

Quarter 4 - Week 1

Session 1: Typing and Enrichment

Review Typing Stage 9-12:

Demonstrate how to use Dance Mat Typing.
Review proper finger technique.

Typing Practice:

Practice for 25-30 minutes or until done.

Additional Typing Practice:

3 Minutes of Typing Rocket JR.
- Type with both hands, try to get a final score of 60 points or more.
Finish level 2 of Keyboard Climber 2. Type with both hands.

Enrichment:

Students work on enrichment activities after typing.

Session 2: Slide Presentation and Enrichment

Demonstrations:

Demonstrate how to use chosen slide presentation software (PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides, etc).
Show students how to create the slide, add the title, copy and paste pictures, add textboxes, and add arrows.
Demonstrate how to print / save the slide.

Butterfly Life Cycle Presentation:

Create a one slide presentation showing the lifecycle of a butterfly with pictures, text, and arrows.
Students save / print finished work.
