The CESD STEAM Lending Library is a collaborative initiative between Clackamas Education Service District (CESD) and the South Metro-Salem STEM Partnership (SMSP), designed to provide equitable access to high-quality Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) resources for educators across Clackamas County K-12.
In 2023, a diverse group of educators from multiple districts came together to identify priorities and guide the development of the library. Through the GEER Computer Science Grant, foundational equipment such as BeeBots, Makey Makey kits, Indi Cars, and Sphero BOLT robots were purchased to support classroom innovation.
In 2024, the STEAM Lending Library Leadership Team was formed to test lesson plans, delivery systems, and operational processes. Although the project paused during the 2023–24 school year, it resumed with new energy in 2024–25, featuring an upgraded MyTurn lending platform, expanded storage and shelving at the CESD Print Center, and a delivery system integrated with the CESD Courier.
Educators now also have access to the CESD STEAM Lending Library Website, which includes how-to videos, ready-to-use lesson plans, and classroom tips to ensure successful implementation of borrowed items.
