Since RoCK is associated with Career and Technical Education, the ultimate goal is to provide you with a multitude of 21st century skills. These life skills help provide you with more opportunity when you graduate from high school. RoCK will make a concentrated effort to place you in a team dynamic that will afford you a diversified knowledge base. While working with the team, you will have chances to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition, but there are the possibilities of creating smaller projects to focus on specific tasks.
Untapped potential - There are additional design challenges that happen outside the FIRST Washington program including but not limited to:
SourceAmerica - The opportunity to design/engineer a solution for individual in the community with disabilities.
Space STEM - Design challenges working with NASA
Internships / Fellowships / Scholarships - Here in the Pacific Northwest, besides having spaces like Keyport, PSNS, and IMF at Bangor, there are hugely sustainable companies that lay a solid foundation for your future. Utilizing the skill-sets you accrue from RoCK, you may have the opportunity to build a portfolio for connecting with these companies. Please advocate for yourself to create your personal network during your high school career, but RoCK will do its best to facilitate your efforts.
SUSTAINABILITY - Resource management is key to creating a functionally sustainable business. The long-term goal of ROCK is create a regenerative cycle in this areas:
Human resources - With extended involvement with RoCK, build the skill-sets to move into a LEADS role so you can not only advocate for yourself in particular future endeavors, BUT be the specialized student trainer for future members of RoCK.
Material resources - Utilizing a funding and material budget, create a trend analysis to maximize the use of materials while minimizing costs evaluated according to specific build projects.
Access to industry professionals will grant the possibility of focused workshops for particular ventures available in Kitsap county:
Government contracting
Design engineering project management
Instructional design-based training and curriculum creation
