This graph shows the total amount of construction since 2020, these numbers show the amount of construction investment, primarily from the private sector, in each year. This graph also illustrates how a few larger projects can drastically skew this indicator, visabl in the large residential "peak" in 2022, when a number of different neighborhoods all begin applying for permits. The construction costs in industrial, commercial, and residential areas accounted for approximately $76.7 million in 2024. PABD staff anticipate another healthy year of growth in all sectors, with a couple of industrial projects planned, as well as large residential projects including Summerfield, Stratford Place, Bear Run, Twelve Oaks, and Isabelle Farms continuing for the next several years.
The overall number of building permits (New Construction, Renovations, and Additions) increased in 2024, as did industrial, but commercial saw a small decrease. In 2024, the number of single-family home permits increased by 106%, from 50 last year to 103 this year. This is in part due to an incredible amount of single-family residential permits submitted through the year, from several different independent builders. PABD staff anticipates residential construction to remain steady in 2025 as builders continue to build the lots that were approved previously. Similarly, staff anticipates steady industrial and commercial development, with a number of projects coming down the pipeline for potential start of construction in 2025.
This graph shows all new permits for residential, commercial, and industrial construction. However, it only measures new residential construction for single-family development. The chart below includes residential remodels and additions in comparison to new residential construction. In addition to these single family homes, there were 8 manufactured homes constructed in 2024.
This interactive map shows all of the building permits for new construction projects issued in 2024, seperated into Residential, Commercial or Industrial.
The chart and map in this section illustrate the breakdown of residential building permit by the "project type" being completed; "New Construction", "Addition", or "Remodel". This information helps to show where investment is being targeted in the community, and if that investment is constructing new or reinvesting in the existing housing stock.
