Code of Conduct - Rewilding Futures Conference 2027
Code of Conduct - Rewilding Futures Conference 2027
Overview & Purpose
The Rewilding Futures Conference 2027 (29–30 April 2027, CPH Conference Centre, Copenhagen), organised by Citizen Zoo in partnership with the Hempel Foundation, is committed to providing an inclusive, safe, respectful and welcoming environment for all participants.
Our gathering brings together practitioners, scientists, policymakers, community leaders and supporters from around the world. We expect all attendees, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, media representatives, staff and volunteers to follow this Code of Conduct in all conference settings.
Expected Behaviour
All participants are expected to:
Demonstrate Respect and Civility: Treat all delegates, speakers, venue staff and organisers with kindness, consideration and respect.
Embrace Diverse Perspectives: Respect and value differing views, experiences and expertise across all rewilding disciplines, sectors and regions.
Engage Constructively: Take part in discussions, breakout sessions and Q&As with an open mind and professional courtesy. Rewilding brings together people with strongly held and sometimes opposing views. Robust debate is welcome; challenge ideas, not people.
Foster Inclusivity: Help maintain a welcoming and safe space for everyone, regardless of background, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, neurodiversity, physical appearance, age, race, ethnicity, nationality, language, religion or belief, or career stage.
Respect the Venue and Others’ Privacy: Follow all safety procedures at the CPH Conference Centre and on the field trip. Respect personal consent regarding photos, recordings and contact information. Please see our [FAQs] for our photography and recording guidelines.
Unacceptable Behaviour
Harassment, discrimination or abusive conduct will not be tolerated in any form. Unacceptable behaviour includes:
Harassment and Bullying: Harassing, intimidating, degrading or discriminatory comments related to personal traits, background, identity or beliefs.
Personal Attacks: Targeting individuals, rather than their ideas, during sessions, Q&As or online discussion.
Disruptive Behaviour: Sustained or intentional disruption of sessions, presentations, receptions or venue operations.
Unwanted Attention: Non-consensual physical contact, stalking, or unwelcome sexual or personal advances.
Inappropriate Content: Offensive, sexualised or discriminatory imagery or language in presentations, sponsor banners, stand materials or official app communications.
Retaliation: Any form of retaliation against anyone who reports an incident or raises a safety or conduct concern.
Reporting an Incident
If you experience or witness unacceptable behaviour, or have a safety concern:
In an emergency: Call 112 (Danish emergency services), then let Connie know directly on +447703047515.
On-site: Speak to any member of our team. Event staff wear blue shirts marked “Event Staff”. Volunteers wear shirts marked “Event Volunteer” on the front and “Here to help” on the back.
By email: Contact our Event Manager, Constance, at constance@citizenzoo.org, or Lucas, CEO of Citizen Zoo, at lucas@citizenzoo.org. If your report concerns one of these people, please contact the other.
We will acknowledge all reports within 24 hours. You can report anonymously if you prefer, though this may limit how we can follow up. All reports will be handled sensitively and kept as confidential as possible. Personal information is processed in line with our [Privacy Policy].
Enforcement & Consequences
The conference organisers reserve the right to take appropriate action in response to breaches of this Code of Conduct, including:
Issuing a formal warning.
Removing someone from a session, social event or field trip activity.
Expelling someone from the conference without a refund.
Barring access to official event digital channels and future conference events.
Escalating to venue security or the police where necessary.
In serious cases, action may be taken without prior warning. The organisers’ decisions are final.
Scope
This Code of Conduct applies to all conference activities. These include main stage and breakout sessions at the CPH Conference Centre, the screening room, evening receptions and social events, sponsor and exhibitor spaces, the optional Day 3 field trip (including any official transport), and the official online platforms and apps associated with the Rewilding Futures Conference 2027. It also covers conduct between participants outside official activities where it affects anyone’s safety or wellbeing at the conference.
