Facility Assessments

Over the course of the past five years Columbus ISD has contracted three in-depth facility assessments with three independent architectural firms. The goal was to investigate the long-term viability and feasibility of the district's infrastructure and buildings. The feasibility reports identified several improvements and repairs to the 71-year-old fifth grade wing of Columbus Elementary building. The facility assessments identified several significant electrical and plumbing improvements to the main building. The fifth grade wing (built in 1953) once served students as Columbus High School until the high school was built in its current location in 1965. The facilities assessment listed nearly $1.5 million dollars as the cost analysis to renovate and repair electrical and plumbing at Columbus Elementary School.
