Out of Mind

Acrylic on canvas, 94 x 85 cm

The phrase “Out of Mind” refers to when a person stops thinking about something after not seeing it for a long time. This phrase perfectly describes what this piece is about. Growing up, reading has always been a big part of my life. Oftentimes, in the midst of reading, I often feel as though I have travelled to a different universe. This is depicted in the artwork by the universe emerging from the book on the girl's face.

Roots

Acrylic on canvas, 46 x 61 cm

Commonly called the windows to one’s soul, this artwork depicts an eye spread across multiple wooden panels of different sizes. This is to show that who I am remains constant. The flowers that can be seen in front of me were referenced from those that grow in my mom’s garden. This is a reference to the title of this piece “Roots”, as a reminder to remember where I come from as it is a great part of who I am.
