At Cebu International School, we offer both Mandarin and Spanish at the ab initio level and at the B level.

• The language ab initio course is a language acquisition course for students with limited or no prior experience of the target language.

• The language B Standard Level (SL) and language B Higher Level (HL) courses are for students with some previous experience of the target language. 

  • • The distinction between SL and HL can be seen in: the number of recommended teaching hours, the level of competency the student is expected to develop in receptive, productive and interactive skills, and that the HL students are required to study two literary works originally written in the target language.

Students develop the ability to communicate in the target language through the study of language, themes and texts. The assessments include listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. All the formal assessments will happen in the Second Semester of Grade 12.
