Every spring, we hold a career fair as an opportunity for secondary students to learn more about various careers, learn professional skills, and practice networking. For Grade 9 students, this may be an opportunity to look for practicum opportunities.
This year the Career Fair will be on February 24 and run from 15:30-17:00
Location: CIS Canteen
Dress Code: While optional, we suggest practicing professional dress, so that you get feedback on your attire (this may be especially useful for Grade 12 students). In Denmark, that generally doesn't have to be too formal---think of what you might wear to a nice dinner with adults. We suggest Googling the phrase "smart casual" for some ideas. If you'd like feedback, please feel free to see one of the Future Planning Counsellors while at the fair.
How the fair works: This is a free-floating fair, meaning you do not have to arrive at exactly 3:30, but plan at least 30-45 minutes so you have a chance to talk to several people. Review the fair map and career field/position descriptions (this will be provided closer to the fair date) before attending the fair, so that you can make sure you speak to the people who interest you most first. We recommend talking to at least 3-5 people to learn more about their field, how to get into that field, and what it's like working in the field.
Resumes/CVs: You do not need to bring a CV/Resume, but if you'd like feedback from a Future Planning Counsellor on your resume/CV, please feel free to bring it to the fair. Grade 9 students seeking a Career Week practicum should also consider bringing their resume (this can be a digital version, it does not have to be printed). Unifrog is a great resource for building your first resume.
