CIS offers a Mother Tongue Program for students who wish to further engage in and develop their native language. The program is designed to facilitate learning on a native level and build on already established language skills.
The Mother Tongue Program is offered to students from kindergarten to grade 10, and may include a wide range of languages. Classes are created based on demand - a class is established after a minimum of three sign-ups. For students from grades 2-10 special arrangements can be made for one or two students in the class, at an accordingly adjusted fee. Early years classes (kindergarten - grade 1) will be play-based. This is in line with our early years philosophy and means the children will practice their language skills through play with each other and the teacher and not through formal instruction. Beginning in grade 2, children will receive more formal instruction in their native language.
The program is offered in the following periods:
Season 1: September 25, 2023 – February 2 , 2024
Season 2: February 19, 2024 – June 7, 2024
The tuition fee for one season is 2300 DKK per student in the standard class, 3450 DKK with only two students in the class and 6900 DKK in one-on-one class, excluding learning materials, which will be advised by the teacher at the beginning of the season.
Classes run once a week, from 15:00 to 16:00 for Primary students and 16:00 to 17:00 for Secondary students at the CIS Nordhavn Campus. We will offer French and Spanish MT classes on Tuesdays, German and Danish MT classes on Wednesdays and all the other language classes will be arranged on Thursdays. Days can not be changed, so please double check your child's after school activities before you sign them up.

Classes are scheduled to take place regardless of parent-teacher conferences, activity weeks, etc, and possible rescheduling needs to be arranged with the teacher.
