Message from NERIE-NCERT
NERIE (North East Regional Institute of Education) proudly celebrates the spirit of multilingualism with a resounding 21 mother tongues of students participating in a remarkable multilingual word relay. This event marks the translation of "Bhasha Sangam," a collection of simple words and phrases that can be seamlessly incorporated into the classroom environment to promote multilingualism, an idea strongly emphasized in the National Education Policy 2020.
Our students actively engaged in the 'Story Chain' activity in an exhilarating display of linguistic diversity and cultural exchange. This activity enabled them to explore and appreciate the beauty of various languages, reflecting the fundamental principles of unity in diversity and the rich tapestry of Indian heritage. Dr. Melissa G. Wallang, Head of the Department of Languages and Social Sciences, highlighted the importance of promoting multilingualism, emphasizing its significance in our educational landscape and honouring the great Tamil poet Subramania Bharati popularly known as Mahakavi Bharati.
Prof. Flourette G Dkhar, Principal of NERIE, passionately stressed the pivotal role of mother tongue education in shaping well-rounded individuals and fostering a deep sense of cultural identity. The multilingual celebration is not just an event but a valuable learning experience for our students and our esteemed faculty members. It is a testament to our commitment to the ideals of the National Education Policy and our dedication to cultivating a spirit of unity and harmony through linguistic diversity.
Join us in embracing the beauty of our diverse linguistic heritage and championing the cause of multilingualism. Let us unite in celebrating the rich tapestry of languages that make up the cultural fabric of our great nation, India.
