Week-wise schedule with one activity from each theme that can be conducted at NERIE with B.Ed students from October 4th, 2023, to December 11th, 2023. Coordinators can fix the dates accordingly.
Week 2 - Literature (5th to 11th October):
Coordinator: Dr. Melissa G. Wallang & Dr. T. Newmei
Date: 11th of October, 2023
Activity: Bhashathon
Bhashathon, or Language Marathon, is an engaging language learning program that offers various activities to enhance participants' speaking, vocabulary, and writing skills.
Week 3 - Cuisine (12th to 18th October ):
Coordinators: Dr. Melissa G. Wallang and Mr. R. A Singh
Date: 18th of October, 2023
Activity: Exhibition of Regional Food
Description: Students can exhibit and showcase food items of their own states with pictures in multilingual mode. This activity can promote cultural understanding as students share the history and significance of each dish.
Week 5 - My Institute (26th October to 1st November)
Coordinators: Dr. Tulika Dey and Dr. Prachi Gildyal
Activity: Language and Culture Diversity Exhibition
Description: Organize an exhibition highlighting the linguistic and cultural diversity within your school. Each student can prepare a display about their language, customs, and traditions, allowing everyone to learn and appreciate the unique aspects of their peers' backgrounds.
Week 7 - Numeracy & Mathematics (9th to 15th November):
Coordinators: Dr. Seema R and Dr. B. Devi
Activity: Documentation of Numerical items
Description:. Numerical word items are essential for language documentation as they play a crucial role in understanding a language's numeral system and mathematical expressions. This activity will enhance mathematical knowledge while celebrating India's mathematical heritage.
Week 8 - Show your talent (16th November to 22 November):
Activity: Cultural Showcase
Coordinators: Dr. T. Newmei & Dr. Melissa G. Wallang
Description: Organize a cultural showcase where students can present their talents, whether it's traditional dance performances, music recitals, or art exhibitions. This event allows students to express themselves creatively while celebrating India's diverse cultural heritage.
Week 10 - Reading & Expression (November 30th to December 06):
Coordinator: Dr. Sarajubala Devi & Mrs. S. Palit
Activity: Storytelling Workshop in regional languages by famous personalities from different walks of life.
Description: Conduct a storytelling workshop where students can learn the art of storytelling and its significance in various Indian cultures. They can then share stories from their own backgrounds, encouraging narrative expression and language exploration.
Week 11 - Dedicated to Shri Subramanian Bharathi (December 07th to December, 11):
Activity: Tribute and Poetry Recitation
Coordinator: Dr. Sarajubala Devi and Mrs. S. Palit
Description: Pay tribute to Shri Subramanian Bharathi by organizing a poetry recitation event where students can recite his poems and discuss their cultural and literary significance. This activity can culminate in a program on December 11th to honor his Janma Jayant.
It is important to incorporate technology, virtual sessions, and social media platforms throughout the 75 days to connect with students and educators from different regions of the East and to ensure that each week's activities align with the designated themes. This will contribute to the broader goals of promoting multilingualism and celebrating India's linguistic diversity.
