12 Grade English/AP Lit
This is the culmination of your career as a K-12 student. What an exciting time! All that you have learned is expected to be used for the purposes of your success in this class. Most recently, last year you all learned it was no longer enough to simply identify literary devices, but you had to explain their function and use them in your own writing to better communicate your ideas as well. This year, keeping that same focus in mind, we will be applying the powers of your analyical mind to literature instead of rhetoric.
Focusing on the elements of literature such as setting, theme, characterization, symbolism, imagery, etc. will be useful in helping to understand and analyze the meaning of literature and identifying why an author used one technique over another.
Some questions that will be helpful in better understanding the literature we will be reading are:
How does the setting (...or the structure of the story, character development, etc) move the plot forward?
What is the author's intention when using one motif over another?
How can understanding the context in which a piece was written, help us to analyze the story itself?

Weekly & Bi-weekly quizzes will be given via the vocab workshop website.
You will take 3 quizzes from whatever the current unit is, and upload screenshots of the results to the google classroom platform.
You will have 25 minutes to complete all three quizzes.
