Basics

• Meetings of the board and committees are open to all members of Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods
• Attendance
  • A quorum of the board of delegates -- the minimum number of voting members who must be present at a meeting in order to conduct business in the name of the group -- shall be 33% of the Delegates

• Board Packets
  • Are provided in advance of a board meeting and include an agenda, minutes of the previous board meeting (requires board approval), prior month's financials (requires board approval), committee reports, neighborhood reports, and any 'position' proposals or 'motions' to be decided upon during the upcoming meeting. It is important for delegates to review board packets prior to each meeting in order to be prepared to conduct business and share in constructive discourse.
• Motions
  • Example; "I move to approve the minutes". This is followed by a delegate declaring they 'Second' the motion. Which is followed by a brief opportunity for discussion and finally a board vote. It's always preferable to 'Abstain' if you have not reviewed the topic/document in question.
• Financials
  • Key items to note: Total Income, and Total Expenses for the month. It's preferable to 'Abstain' on approval of financials if you have not reviewed prior to a meeting.
• Neighborhood reporting
  • Delegates should include highlights and newsworthy information about their neighborhood in their report. Please coordinate with the other delegate(s) to ensure information is not being duplicated. Delegates-at-large can submit contributions to the delegate of their neighborhood for inclusion in the monthly report. These reports are an opportunity to share information that may have an impact on the character, safety, and quality of life in and around Capitol Hill.
