Mike has over 30 years of experience as a teacher, senior leader, Headteacher in 2 secondary schools, Executive Headteacher of a primary school, most of which have served areas of significant deprivation and need. He also co-led the extended schools strategy in Telford and Wrekin LA. Mike has an unrelenting passion and drive to improve the educational experiences of children from disadvantaged backgrounds and has worked with many agencies and professionals over the years to explore and implement strategies to achieve this.
Mike has worked in TKAT’s senior leadership team for the past 3 years, with a key area of focus being inclusion. Working with education specialists in the fields of attendance, SEND, wellbeing, and behaviour, Mike leads on Trust wide strategies and initiatives to support children most in need including the Trust’s flagship ‘TKAT ACE - A Champion for Every PP child’ programme, the brainchild of Dr Karen Roberts, CEO of TKAT.
Mike also leads on professional learning across the Trust, oversees the work of TKAT SCITT and ECF programmes, and is part of the Secondary Improvement Team as a Director of Education.
