This gallery is focus more on graphic design and typography, although it does feature painting and drawing and printmaking as well.
It has both a permanent collection centred on type and type production, there are actual type blocks, leading and presses et cetera as well as temporary and travelling shows which feature the work of graphic design, typesetting and artwork related to lettering. These travelling shows can be historical or contemporary in focus. There is a strong flavour of Eric Gill who lived in Ditchling and works nearby. There is also strong reference to the typography of the London Underground which was the work of a local designer too.

This has a permanent collection, which is free. There is a strong collection of the work of Eric Ravilious and some other provincial art. There are one or two very good pieces, for example, a large etching by Picasso, but the rest is fairly mundane. There are also travelling shows which are often thoughtful and interesting. Sometimes entrances charged with these, and sometimes they are free.
