Our school is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment. We ask that you keep your child home if they have experienced any of the symptoms listed below in the past 24 hours. This helps reduce the spread of illness to other students and staff.
A student should remain at home — and will be sent home if symptoms develop during the school day — if any of the following are present:
Fever of 100.4ºF or higher. Your child must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication before returning to school.
Persistent or congestive cough that interferes with classroom activities.
Vomiting (within the last 24 hours).
Diarrhea (within the last 24 hours).
Discharge (other than clear) from the nose, mouth, eyes, ears, or any other body area.
Unexplained rash or skin condition possibly related to illness.
Open, draining sores that cannot be covered or kept bandaged.
Previously controlled medical conditions (e.g., asthma, seizures) that have become unmanageable.
Unusual pallor or flushed appearance suggesting illness.
Extreme fatigue or lethargy that prevents participation in class.
If your child becomes ill at school, you will be contacted to pick them up promptly. If we cannot reach you, we will contact the emergency contact listed in your child’s school records.
Because children may not always be able to fully explain how they are feeling, our School Nurses will use their professional judgment to determine if a student should remain in school or be sent home.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school community healthy and safe.
