classroom economy: R-Bucks 

Our Classroom Economy: R-Bucks

This year, our classroom will include a classroom economy to support both our new math standards and positive classroom management. Students will use R-Bucks (a fun play on Starbucks!) as our classroom currency.

Students will have many opportunities to earn R-Bucks throughout the week, including completing assignments, using class time wisely, demonstrating positive behavior, and completing classroom jobs. Students will even have the opportunity to apply for classroom jobs and earn money for their work.

Just as in a real economy, students can also lose R-Bucks for things such as negative behavior, not completing assignments, or failing to meet classroom expectations.

Every other week, we will have Payday, when students can use their R-Bucks to purchase items and experiences from our classroom store. Rewards may include choosing your seat for the day, wearing a hat in class, earning extra points on an assignment, and more!

The goal is to give students a fun, hands-on way to learn about earning, saving, spending, budgeting, and debt while practicing important math skills. This experience will help connect our classroom learning to real-life financial decisions.
