Which way forward?
Our September chapter convention acts as one of our quarterly general meetings and is where we gather to debate and decide on our direction for the next year by voting on the authorization and/or reauthorization of chapter priority campaigns, hear from candidates seeking election as one of our Chapter Officers, and vote on other proposals submitted by members.
Please reach out to the chapter Co-Chairs with any questions. All Chicago DSA Members In Good Standing can vote at the meeting. Not a member? Join today at dsausa.org/join.

Socialize with comrades!
There will be dedicated time before and after the meeting to socialize with other DSA members. We will have a coffee hour social in the meeting room from 10:30AM - 11:30AM, and then after meeting we will hang out a bit at the hotel before heading out for an offsite social, which will start around 5PM. We highly encourage members to arrive early or stay late to meet and chat with other DSA members!

General Chapter Meeting
WE HIGHLY ENCOURAGE MEMBERS TO ATTEND THE MEETING IN-PERSON
The Flats - Riaz H. Waraich Auditorium 5th Floor
829 S Wabash Ave, Chicago, IL 60605 US
The convention will be a bit different than recent chapter meetings. First, we’re at a new venue. The convention will be held in the Riaz H. Waraich Auditorium at The Flats @ East-West University, which is in the downtown South Loop neighborhood.
This location is well served by transit: The venue is near stops on the routes for buses 1,2,3,4, 6, 26, 28 29,62, and 146. It is a short walk from the Roosevelt and Harrison L stations. If you're coming from outside of the City or taking Metra, Union Station and the Ogilvie Transportation Center also 30 minutes on foot.
Limited street parking is available in the neighborhood. There are parking ramps nearby. We advise attendees to carpool if you elect to not take mass transit.
We're fighting for socialism to ensure a live-able, more just world for generations to come. Parents have a huge stake in this fight.
Free, volunteer-run child care will be available onsite at the chapter meeting for children 2+ years of age. We'll have activities to keep the kids engaged so that you can participate fully in our democratic process. (Younger children are welcome but must be accompanied by their parent or guardian throughout the meeting.)
To request child care, please email Co-Chairs Lyra and Sean at co-chair-1@chicagodsa.org and co-chair-2@chicagodsa.org by September 16th. Include your children's names, ages, and any requests for special accommodations (allergies, sensory sensitivities, etc.).
Chicago DSA members in good standing have the option to attend the meeting virtually via Zoom if individual circumstances prevent them from attending in person. The proceedings will be streamed and virtual attendees will be able to speak and vote at the meeting.
Please RSVP no later than September 16th to attend the meeting virtually. We will not be able to accommodate late registrations for virtual attendance.
We highly recommend attending the meeting in person if you are able to do so. While this will be a hybrid meeting, the truth it that it's really two different meetings happening at once: one meeting in the the room and one on Zoom, and in our experience the meeting in the room is a whole lot better. If you need any accomodations to make the meeting more accessible for you to attend in-person please reach out to the chapter Co-Chairs.
Please reach out to the leadership@chicagodsa.org.
We need your help to make sure our chapter meeting is a success.
We are looking to fill a number of volunteer roles for before, during, and after the meeting on September 21st. There are also some roles that can be done virtually.
Please take a look at the volunteer roles we’re looking to fill and if you can help sign up to volunteer using the form linked here.
