All Chicago DSA members in good standing are eligible to vote and to submit items for inclusion at the chapter meeting. To be in good standing, members must be current on their dues. Contact secretary@chicagodsa.org if you have questions about your membership status.
Ten percent (10%) of CDSA members in good standing constitutes a quorum, and is required for the transaction of business at a CDSA Membership Meeting and the June Membership Convention.
If we don't make quorum, we will proceed with the meeting and take advisory votes on any business items. Advisory votes will be ratified by the CDSA Executive Committee at the next regularly scheduled meeting.
No, we're taking a low-tech approach to this membership meeting in order to minimize time spent on voting mechanics and save more time for political discussion and debate. Members in good standing will be issued a voting card when they check-in for the meeting. Attendees on Zoom will vote using the Raise Hand feature.
We'd love it if you registered in advance! This will save us time at check-in by giving us an opportunity to do things like confirm your membership status before you arrive. If you forget to register, no problem, feel free to join us in person the day of the meeting (just arrive at least 30 minutes early so we can get you checked in).
If you'd like to participate in the meeting virtually, we ask that you register by September 17th. We cannot accommodate late registration for virtual attendees. Virtual attendees are asked to arrive 30 minutes early so that we can troubleshoot technology and provide a brief orientation on how to participate in the meeting to the fullest extent possible.
An opportunity to catch up with comrades you haven't seen in a while or connect with members doing work you're interested in joining. Union coffee, donuts, and a chance to purchase the latest Chicago DSA merch. Plus, a spirited Solidarity Forever singalong.
