Chicago DSA uses Robert's Rules of Order, Newly Revised (RONR) as the rules of order governing our membership meetings, with the exception of any Special Rules adopted by the body at the beginning of the meeting. These shared norms facilitate our ability to make timely decisions as a large, deliberative body.
Most actions in Robert’s Rules are done through what are called motions. Some motions involve asking the body to take an action. These motions require a “second” person in support, and then debate and/or a vote takes place.
